Amir Hamdan was appointed President & Group Chief Executive Officer (PGCEO) of Prasarana Malaysia Berhad on 15 August 2025. Prior to this appointment, he served as Group Chief Operations Officer (Operations), where he led Group-wide initiatives to enhance service reliability, operational efficiency, and the overall customer experience across Prasarana’s public transport networks.

With more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning finance, operations, and corporate strategy, Amir is widely recognised for his strong financial acumen and hands-on operational leadership. He previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, where he played a pivotal role in stabilising and transforming rail operations during a period of heightened public scrutiny over service reliability and confidence. Under his leadership, Rapid Rail undertook a comprehensive operational turnaround focused on improving asset reliability, strengthening maintenance regimes, and reinforcing end-to-end operational discipline across the rail network.

Amir joined Prasarana in 2019 from DRB-HICOM Berhad as Deputy Group Chief Financial Officer, bringing deep experience across both corporate and regulatory environments. His appointment strengthened Prasarana’s financial governance and strategic capabilities during a critical phase of organisational transformation.

He began his career at Tenaga Nasional Berhad in 1998 and subsequently held senior roles across both the public and private sectors, including a secondment to SEATRAC Sdn Bhd, appointments at DRB-HICOM Berhad, and the Securities Commission Malaysia. Across these roles, Amir developed extensive expertise in treasury operations, portfolio management, corporate finance, and organisational transformation.

Amir holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Management from Lincoln University, a Diploma in Professional Accounting from Victoria University, and a Master’s Degree in Islamic Finance. He is also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
