Shaping the Future of Mobility: Our Commitment to Progress

Mobility is more than just movement—it’s about possibilities and making daily commutes effortless, and shaping a more accessible, sustainable future. At Prasarana, we are committed to enhancing mobility, and 2025 is already proving to be a year of significant progress.

Ridership has reached new heights, with nearly 1.5 million passengers recorded on 31 December 2024—the highest in our history. This achievement reflects the growing trust in public transport and reaffirms our role in easing congestion and reducing carbon emissions.

A key part of this progress is improving service reliability. In 2024, we successfully achieved our Mean Kilometre Between Failures (MKBF) targets for both rail and bus operations. MKBF is a key performance indicator (KPI) that measures the reliability and efficiency of our services—ensuring fewer disruptions, smoother journeys, and greater confidence in public transport. Train disruptions were reduced by 40% compared to 2023, while bus services exceeded their targets with a 25% improvement in MKBF. These milestones reflect our continued investment in preventive maintenance, fleet management, and operational efficiency—all aimed at delivering a more dependable journey for our passengers.

This momentum builds as we prepare for major milestones in the coming years. The Shah Alam Line, connecting Bandar Utama to Johan Setia, is set to open this year, bringing greater connectivity to thousands of commuters. Meanwhile, the RTS Link between Bukit Chagar and Woodlands North remains on track for completion by end of 2026, providing a seamless five-minute cross-border journey between Malaysia and Singapore. These expansions will enhance urban mobility, ease congestion, and provide more efficient travel options for millions of people.

Beyond network expansion, we remain focused on enhancing the passenger experience. Upgrades at our rail and bus stations are underway to improve accessibility, safety, and comfort for all users. We are also strengthening first-mile and last-mile connectivity, with initiatives such as Rapid KL On-Demand, ensuring a more seamless and convenient journey for commuters.

Sustainable practices are essential for preserving resources, ensuring a cleaner environment, and securing a better future for the next generation. As part of our commitment to sustainable public transport, we are investing in 250 electric buses, which will be operating in phases starting at the end of this year. This initiative not only reduces our carbon footprint but also enhances energy efficiency, contributing to a greener and more sustainable urban mobility system for all.

The road ahead is filled with opportunities, and our mission remains clear—to deliver a world-class public transport system that meets the needs of our growing cities. None of this would be possible without the dedication of our workforce and the trust of millions of passengers who rely on us daily.

Together, let’s continue shaping a more connected and efficient future. Here’s to another year of progress and innovation!
